Hey guys! I’m Viviene Coello and I’m a prospective graduate student currently at Kennesaw State University majoring in Integrative Studies concentrating in biology, chemistry, and psychology. If you’re wondering what an Integrative Studies is, it’s having more than one field of study. As an interdisciplinarian I understand the value of using multiple perspectives for problem-solving. Most graduates get stuck in their discipline, but with my multidisciplinary approach I have gained the skills to synthesize knowledge from multiple subjects of academia and bring a fresh approach. Not only is their value in integrating academic subjects, I am also able to connect the experiences I’ve had with the knowledge I’ve accumulated. My skills in critical thinking have evolved to look across disciplinary boundaries to consider other viewpoints and begin to compare and contrast concepts across subject areas.
